White Pocket

White Pocket - Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area

The Paria Canyon - Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area is a land marked with desert beauty and loaded with photographic opportunities. This small section of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument can be found from Utah's U.S. Route 89. This region of the Vermillion Cliffs spans the Utah and Arizona border. Here, The Wave in the North Coyote Buttes seems to be the big draw, and has overshadowed some of the area's other outstanding sandstone sculptures. Also included within the Wire Pass - House Rock Valley Road area are the South Coyote Buttes, Cottonwood Teepees, Buckskin Gulch, and this sriking location called the White Pocket.
One of Arizona's scant rain showers has filled this reflective pool, creating a marvelous wilderness setting. White Pocket's artwork, marked with swirling contours and soft pastel hues, is centered in a fragile environment. Only exercising great care will preserve this desert scene for future generations.
