Archeological evidence places New Mexico’s first inhabitants back 10,000 years when Clovis-Paleo Indians called the Eastern Plaines their home. More recent Anasazi Indian Dwellings and today Pueblo Villages and Tribes (22 in all) touch on New Mexico’s rich cultural heritage.
Spanish influences are also seen throughout the state, and very evident in Albuquerque’s Old Town and Old West Country. The state’s scenic wonders, inspiring artist Georgia O’Keeffe, range from the arid plains to the rugged San Juan Mountains. Canyonlands, waterfalls, dinosaur museums, caves, ghost towns, Spanish Missions, volcanic remnants, and mysterious Puebloan ruins all help to make this a scenic Land of Enchantment. |
