Scenic USA - Arizona Devils Natural Bridge |
| Photos by Rob Jones Rob's Trip Report |
The Oak Creek Canyon area, Arizona's
hiking paradise, is designated as Federal wilderness land and features over 30 hiking trails. For those seeking beauty, solitude and good old fashion adventure, the Red Rock Secret Mountain, Munds Mountain and Sycamore Canyon wilderness areas are a short distance from Sedona and Flagstaff.
The wilderness areas are inaccessible to motorized vehicles as well as mountain biking, making it a little safer for avid hikers. A great emphasis is placed on retention of the land's pristine beauty, wild landscapes and fragile desert
environment and hikers are asked to leave only footprints. Rated from easy to strenuous, trails are designed to fit various levels of expertise. Be sure to check area hiking guides to determine if the trail is the right fit.
One of the area's natural landmarks, Devils Natural Bridge is found a few miles from Route 89A and Dry Creek Road. The natural bridge is just one of the interesting sites found in Oak Creek Canyon Red Rock District and creates a waypoint or interesting highlight during your day in the wild.
