With its best examples
at the Glorious T, the village streets of Montour Falls are lined with a pleasant mix of architectural styles, varying from the clean lines of the craftsman to the ornate designs of Greek Rival and Victorian. Where West Main Street meets Genesee Street, at the town's Glorious T, mid 19th century homes surround the 156 foot Shequaga Falls.
Placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1978, the Village of Montour Falls offers a self guided tour of their historic district. The audio journey is free, accessed via your cell phone and lasts about 25 minutes.
Noteworthy stops include the sheriff’s office, Montour Falls Memorial Library, and the silvery domed Montour Falls City Hall (inset photo).
Pictured here is the Lee-Jackson house found just to the left of the Shequaga Falls Park. To the right, town visitors will find a fine example of Greek Revival architecture. Built in 1845, the historic William T. Jackson house is now the At the Falls Bed and Breakfast (inset photo). One of two dozen nationally recognized homes in town, the Jackson home is said to be one of the most photographed structures in New York. With a 156 foot cascade appearing to tumble into the backyard, this inn at the Glorious T creates a memorable scene.
Latest update: Regrettably, the At the Falls Bed and Breakfast remains closed for the forseeable future.
